At Work? Fidget!

You've heard of "whistle while you work". Today, fidget while you work. From an article at HR REVIEW dated May 20. 2014, if you cannot get up from your desk to walk, and there is no stand up-sit down desk option, you need to wiggle. Sitting quietly for long periods of time, can cause major health issues. We've talked about the importance of a proper work station chair. You have a good understanding of what to look for.

Let's address a badly designed work station. When you sit facing your monitor, are you square with the computer? Do you have to reach up or lean in to type. Are you constantly twisted to get the job done? Neck, wrist and back pain come from day after day, week after week, month after month and year after year, NOT listening to your body or taking the time to consider making changes causes painful and expensive remedies. Today there are so many tools available to make the work station a healthy environment. There are keyboard managers, wrist adaptors, back supports, foot supports, and copy holders, to name a few. It is the year of the chair, and addressing that issue should be a priority, but do not neglect your work environment.

If you are in the Houston area, my company, Butler Business Products has partnered with an ergonomics educator, to assess work stations and make recommendations.
